Hey group leaders,

This upcoming week (the week of March 12th) is spring break which means we will not be sending out the regular discussion guide.  I would love to encourage you to plan a fun hangout for your group as a way to continue to grow in community!  (IF YOUR GROUP DOES A FUN NIGHT PLEASE STILL TAKE ATTENDANCE).

As you may have heard, and many of you were there, City Church hosted a missions conference called "To the World Conference" last weekend.  It was an amazing conference!  I lead a breakout session called "How City Groups can engage in global missions" and I wanted to share my bullet point ideas.  These are suggestions that you can take back with your group and discuss:

  • Adopt a missionary (pray for them, send them letters and encouragement, read their updates/newsletters, stay in contact with them), visit them on a mission trip.

  • Pray for a different unreached people group a week. (Check out this map) https://imb.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Viewer/index.html?appid=807928071960422291fd231a2dda7e4e

  • Have missionary visit your group on furlow.

  • Pick a project to support as a group. (like funding an outreach project or construction of a church plant)

  • Zoom/Facetime a missionary into your group time.

  • Invite internationals into your group or a social. Learn about them and show hospitality.

  • Financially partner with college students that are participating in mission trips.

If you have a question about any of these bullet points, please let me know!

TWO other announcements:
1) Mens Gathering- March 27th at 6:30.  You can RSVP online.
2) Equip Classes start back on Sunday, March 26th.  The 4 classes offered are: 1) Historical Theologian: Augustine, 2) Send Missions Class, 3) Spiritual Disciplines, 4) City Church University: Theology and Culture

Thank you all for being great city group leaders!  Please don't hesitate to reach out to me or Harrison if there is any way we can serve you and your group.
