A Kingdom Restored | DAY EIGHTEEN

SCRIPTURE READING

“When he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. He left Nazareth and went to live in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, along the road by the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who live in darkness have seen a great light, and for those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned. From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Matthew 4:12-17 CSB

THINKING FURTHER

THOUGHTS:
No matter how dark the world has been and is today, the awesome news is that the kingdom of heaven is here; and is yet coming. Jesus’ commanded us to turn from our rebellion and seek the kingdom of heaven through faith in Christ. Jesus’ death and resurrection started that kingdom and it is still advancing through us.

PRAYER FOCUS:
Let us pray that City Church and our sister churches that make up the Church of Jesus Christ in Tallahassee, might be a shining light in our city. May the church proclaim the good news of salvation by grace, through faith, in Jesus Christ alone. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come in such a way in our city that it will impact the rest of Florida, our nation and the world.
