This week we kicked our brand new series, Wise Up! In this series, we are teaching kids how to be wise from God's word. We are using 4 proverbs to see that being wise means making the choice God wants up to make! In large group, we join Ms. Wise and Willy the Worm to learn how to be wise! We learned about listening this week!

Need to Know: "I Will Listen"

Christ Connection: Wow! Samuel was such a great listener when God called him! Do you know who was an even better listener? Jesus! God loves us so much that he sent his son, Jesus, to die on the cross for you and me. Jesus listened and obeyed God. Now we can listen and obey God, too!

Bible Story: 1 Samuel 3

One night, Samuel was asleep. But he heard something--a voice! The voice was calling, "Samuel!" Samuel got right up and ran to Eli. "Here I am, Eli! Did you call me?"

Eli said, "I didn't call you, Samuel." So Samuel ran back and got back into bed. But he heard that voice again! He ran to Eli again! But Eli said, "I did not call you, Samuel!"

By now Samuel was wide awake! He heard that voice AGAIN--"Sameul!"

Samuel got right up. He ran to Eli. "Here I am Eli! Did you call me?" Samuel asked.

Eli said, "If you hear that voice again, say this: 'Speak Lord, I'm listening."'

"All right!" said Samuel.

NOW that voice called his name again! "Samuel! Samuel!"

"Speak Lord, I'm listening" he said. Eli was right! God had been calling! Samuel listened carefully. He did his best to remember every word God had to say! As he grew up, Samuel listened to God--and obeyed!
