We kicked off our brand new series, Wise Up this Sunday! Throughout this series, your child will learn about how to be wise from God's word. Using 4 proverbs, we will teach your child that being wise means making the choice God wants them to make. We joined Zippy and Jordan at Springside School in their virtual classroom and went on an adventure with them to  learn how to be wise!

Need To Know: "I Will Listen"

Christ Connection: Samuel became a prophet to the nation of Israel. He used God's words to tell the people what God is like. John 1:1 says that Jesus is the Word. God sent Jesus to earth as God in the flesh. Jesus showed the world what God is like, and He told people to turn away from their sin. By dying for their sins on the cross and rising again, Jesus ultimately gave sinful people the power to stop sinning.

Bible Story: 1 Samuel 3

One night, Samuel was asleep.  But he heard something--a voice! The voice was calling, "Samuel!"

Samuel got right up and ran to Eli. "Here I am, Eli! Did you call me?"

Eli said, "I didn't call you, Samuel." So Samuel ran back and got into bed. But he heard that voice again! He ran to Eli again! But Eli said, "I did not call you, Samuel!"

By now Samuel was wide awake! He heard that voice AGAIN--"Samuel!"

Samuel got right up. He ran to Eli. "Here I am, ElI! Did you call me?" Samuel asked.

Eli said, "If you hear that voice again, say this: 'Speak Lord. I'm listening."'

"All right!" said Samuel.

NOW that voice called his name again! "Samuel! Samuel!"

"Speak Lord. I'm listening!" he said. Eli was right! God had been calling! Samuel listened carefully. He did his best to remember every word God had to say! As he grew up, Samuel listened to God--and obeyed!
